July 30 - August 4 (Explorers)
August 6-11 (Expeditioners)
New for 2023, Kimball Camp is offering a canoe journey on the St. Joseph River designed specifically for participants aged 11-13 (Canoe Explorers), and 13-15 (Canoe Expeditioners). The trips will include campfire cooking, meals at local riverfront restaurants, and stays at recreation areas, resorts and campgrounds along the route.
Trips will begin near Long Lake in Burr Oak, Michigan, with Explorers traveling to Three Rivers over the course of the week, and Expeditioners reaching the Indiana border. Each trip will be capped at just 12 participants in this introductory year. One male and one female counselor will guide the trip, and campsites will be divided by gender.
Please consider your child's level of interest and ability when signing up for this experience. Reasonable accommodations will be made for those who need them, yet all participants should be capable of and genuinely, personally interested in a real canoe trip that will involve campfire cooking, tent camping in campsites with bathhouses available, and multiple hours spent paddling each day.
Drop off is at 3:00 pm on Sunday, and pickup is at 7:00 pm the following Friday. Parents and guardians are invited to register to enjoy the final dinner at camp at 6:00 pm on Friday.
