To our community:

At Kimball Camp, our saying is that “Your feet may leave, but your heart never

does.” This speaks to the passion and experience that embodies our philosophy of how

we operate at our camp. Beyond the active learning experiences with each participant,

we also keep the quality of the experiences as high as possible. This begins with the

safety and general welfare of our participants.

At the heart of our vision is the concept that learning is meant to be a continuous

and exciting part of everyday life. Everything we do throughout the day can be a valid

and valuable part of our whole experience. This could be as simple as outdoor safety

and hygiene or more complex such as engineering, chemistry, nutrition and sustainable

practices. These will be some of the subjects that participants can learn about while

engaging in our activities and knowledgeable staff members.

While the programs themselves have meaningful value to our participants, we

are also committed to becoming more sustainable in the ways we operate as a non-

profit organization. We are aiming towards little to zero-waste goals, renewable energy,

sustainable gardening and more. We are implementing the ideal practices that we teach

into our own programs to give a more tangible idea to improve the welfare of our

participants and the broader community.

We are always looking to improve our participants experience and our operations so

that everyone can benefit. Some major changes that we are currently working on

include:

1. Improved nutritional food and nutritional education program.

2. Non-renewable energy reduction and renewable energy production.

3. Reducing our waste by over 90% via composting, recycling and upcycling.

4. Improving our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

5. Providing a preventive approach to managing hazards such as nature

preservation and erosion management.

6. Community outreach engagement and networking.

7. Daycare services.

8. Developing new programs and activities that promote our active learning

philosophy.

With this in mind and more to come, we will always have our participants and the

broader community at heart and in mind. We are excited for you to participate in the

unique experiences that we offer and the what the bright future has in store for us

ahead.

Sincerely,

Kimball Camp YMCA
